Yes, a small company can use an AI agent to screen job applications. It can read every application against the must-haves you set, list the few who meet them, and draft the interview invites. It can also pre-check whether a candidate is likely to qualify for a work pass. The shortlist, the invites and the pass checks still wait for a person.
The pile nobody reads
A job posting closes with 148 applications in the hiring inbox. Screening them against the real must-haves quietly becomes skimming the first 30 and hoping. At a recruitment agency, a role posted on Friday has more than 200 applications by Monday. The best CV at position 170 is never opened.
Reading every application against a short list of must-haves needs attention rather than judgement. That is what an AI agent is good at.
What the agent does
Our HR page has an example chat. The HR manager asks Glimmer, the AI agent Glints builds for Singapore companies, to screen 148 applications from MyCareersFuture and JobStreet against three must-haves. In the example, 11 meet all three. Glimmer says why the rest were screened out: 89 of the 137 had no experience with the accounting software the role needs. The manager sends the invite to the top five. See the example chat.
The recruitment page has the agency version. In that example, 214 applications from JobStreet, LinkedIn and MyCareersFuture are screened against the five must-haves in the job order before the morning standup. The strongest CV was application number 171. See the example chat.
The HR page puts screening a job posting at about 12 hours a week today, and about 1 hour with Glimmer reading the pile.
We use it at Glints
Glints is a hiring platform, and our own recruiters use Glimmer to find candidates for client roles. Finding candidates for one role took 90 to 120 minutes. With Glimmer it takes about 5 minutes. The before and after is on our site, in our recruiters' own count. See the real job.
What waits for a person
- Replies to candidates wait for you. Glimmer drafts the interview invite. It goes out only when you say so.
- The work pass check is a first screen. Glimmer pre-checks a candidate's pass eligibility from the CV and the offer range. You confirm on MOM's own tools before any name goes out. See the example chat.
You set the rule once for each kind of action: "Ask first" or "Just do it". See how approvals work.
Where the data goes
Applications hold personal data. Glimmer runs in a cloud account in your company's name, and you control who gets in. It reaches only the systems on your approved list, and every other connection is blocked and logged. Read where your data goes.
Questions people also ask
Does the AI decide who gets hired?
No. It reads every application against the must-haves you wrote, lists the ones that meet them and gives the main reason the others did not. A person reads the shortlist and makes every decision.
Can it check work passes?
Only as a first screen. It pre-checks eligibility from the CV and the offer range, and says so. You confirm on MOM's own tools with the client or the candidate before anything is promised.
Does it work with JobStreet and MyCareersFuture?
Yes. In the examples, the applications arrive in the hiring inbox from MyCareersFuture, JobStreet and LinkedIn, and Glimmer reads them there.
Is there a grant for this?
A bigger build that joins up your systems, such as hiring, HR and payroll, can apply under EDGE's Large-scale Digital Transformation support. One agent doing one task on its own is not eligible. EDGE supports up to 50% of eligible costs for an SME. More details. IMDA's AI x Digital Leaders also matches companies outside the tech industry with partner vendors. More details. Apply before you sign with any vendor. Read why.
Where to start
Pick the last role you filled. Count the applications, and ask the person who screened them how many they read in full. Then book a call and bring both numbers. We will show you what Glimmer would have done with that pile.
