First-pass quotes while the engineer is on the floor
RFQs with drawings sit in the inbox for days because only one engineer can price them, and he's usually on the shop floor. Customers chase, and some stop waiting.
Three RFQs, one bottleneck. The sales manager asks for first-pass pricing so the engineer only has to check, not start from a blank sheet.
@Glimmer 3 RFQs came in over the weekend, drawings in the sales inbox. Kok Wai is tied up on the floor till Thursday, can you work up first-pass pricing so he only has to check them?
Went through all three drawings against your last 18 months of quotes. Two are close matches: RFQ-2214 (500 pcs, 6061-T6 bracket) is near-identical to a job you priced at S$14.20/pc last year, aluminium is up ~9% since, so I've priced it at S$15.60/pc. RFQ-2215 maps to a repeat customer's 2025 part, same tooling, priced at last order +3%.
The third (RFQ-2216) I won't price: it carries a ±0.01mm bore tolerance with no comparable job in your history, so I can't confirm it's even doable on the current machines. That one genuinely needs Kok Wai, I've flagged it to him with the drawing attached.
Two out of three drafted before he's even seen them. Customer's been waiting since Friday 🙏
