148 applicants, screened against the real must-haves
Writing a decent JD eats a morning, and once it's live the applications pile up, screening 148 CVs against the actual must-haves quietly becomes skimming the first 30 and hoping.
Every CV read, not just the top of the pile. The HR manager sets three must-haves; the agent screens all 148 against them.
@Glimmer the Ops Admin Executive posting closed last night, 148 applications across MyCareersFuture and JobStreet sitting in the hiring inbox. Screen them against the must-haves: 2+ years on Xero or similar, solid Excel/Sheets, can start within a month. I don't have three days for this.
Screened all 148. 11 meet all three must-haves; the biggest cut was accounting software, 89 of the 137 screened out had no Xero/QuickBooks experience at all. Top of the shortlist:
| Candidate | Xero | Notice | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tan H.M. | 4 yrs | 2 wks | Also ran payroll on Talenox |
| Nur Syafiqah | 3 yrs | 1 mth | Current role is 80% this JD |
| Dinesh K. | 2 yrs | Immediate | Contract ending, can start Mon |
| Chloe Ng | 2 yrs | 1 mth | Xero certified, lighter on Sheets |
One honest flag: 2 of the 11 claim Xero only in the cover letter, not the CV, I've kept them in but marked them "verify at interview" rather than assuming.
Send it to the top 5. Last round I honestly only read about a third of the pile 😅
