Yes, an AI agent can chase overdue invoices. Every Monday it can pull the invoices more than 30 days overdue from your accounting system and draft a reminder for each customer. It uses a firmer tone for repeat late payers than for first-timers. Each reminder goes out only when a person approves it. The customer you would rather call stays with you.
The aging report that goes nowhere
The aging report gets exported every Monday, and then nothing happens. Chasing means rewriting the same awkward email nine times. The biggest debtor gets the same soft nudge as a customer who is late for the first time.
The work is not hard. It is dull, and it is easy to put off until Thursday. That is why the money stays out.
What the agent does
Our finance page has an example chat. The finance manager asks Glimmer, the AI agent Glints builds for Singapore companies, to pull everything more than 30 days overdue from Xero. She asks for the reminders to be firmer for the repeat offenders.
In the example, Glimmer finds S$41,270 past 30 days across 9 invoices. It drafts a reminder for each customer in one of three tones, and lists the three biggest first. The manager approves all but one. That customer's director is an old friend of the boss, so the manager calls instead. See the example chat.
The page puts the Monday chase at about 2 hours a week today, and about 15 minutes with Glimmer drafting the reminders.
What stays with you
- Reminders wait for you. Glimmer drafts every reminder. Each one sends only when you approve it.
- Filings stay with you. The same agent prepares the CPF fixes and the GST F5 figures. You submit them on CPF EZPay and myTax Portal.
- It holds back what it cannot match. A customer who says a cheque is in the post gets no reminder for two days. Glimmer checks the bank feed before it chases again.
You set the rule once for each kind of message: "Ask first" or "Just do it". See how approvals work.
It works with what you already run
Xero, PayNow, InvoiceNow and your email. Nothing is replaced. Your finance team talks to Glimmer in Lark, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Google Chat, WhatsApp or Telegram. The reminders go to customers by email. It runs in a cloud account in your company's name. Read where your data goes.
The same agent, the rest of the month
Chasing is one Monday job. The finance page shows the other jobs the same agent takes on. These include the payroll check before CPF EZPay, the GST F5 draft, and a folder of receipts turned into expense claims. See the finance jobs.
Questions people also ask
Will customers get a reminder the AI wrote on its own?
Only if you set that rule. In the example, every reminder is a draft until the finance manager approves it, and one customer gets a phone call instead.
How does it know which tone to use?
You tell it once. In the example, the manager asks for a firmer tone for repeat late payers and a gentle one for first-timers. Glimmer applies that rule to each customer's payment history in Xero.
Does it post anything to Xero?
Not on its own. It reads the aging report and drafts the reminders. Any entry in Xero waits for your OK.
Is there a grant for this?
A bigger build that joins up your systems, such as invoicing, payments and your accounts, can apply under EDGE's Large-scale Digital Transformation support. One agent doing one task on its own is not eligible. EDGE supports up to 50% of eligible costs for an SME. More details. IMDA's AI x Digital Leaders also matches companies outside the tech industry with partner vendors. More details. Apply before you sign with any vendor. Read why.
Where to start
Export your aging report this Monday. Count the invoices past 30 days, and the time someone spends writing the reminders. Then book a call and bring both. We will tell you which reminders Glimmer could draft, and which customers should get a call.
