What can AI do for a restaurant or café in Singapore?

Three jobs an AI agent takes off a Singapore F&B business. The Monday delivery payout check, the Friday-night roster gap and the 11pm catering quote.

The useful jobs are the ones that happen every week and touch several systems. An AI agent can check GrabFood, foodpanda and Deliveroo payouts against your POS and the bank. It can find who can cover a shift within the roster rules, and draft a catering quote at 11pm from your own menu. A person approves each accounts entry, roster change and quote.

The Monday payout check

Every Monday someone loses half a day matching the delivery platform payouts against the POS and the bank statement. Each platform takes a different commission, and each outlet has its own numbers.

Our F&B page has an example chat. The finance exec asks Glimmer, the AI agent Glints builds for Singapore companies, to reconcile last week's delivery payouts. The check covers StoreHub sales for 4 outlets. In the example, Glimmer matches 1,284 orders. Three outlets reconcile to the cent, and one does not, so it flags that one. It prepares 22 void entries for StoreHub and one adjusting entry for Xero, and posts them only when told to. See the example chat.

The page puts the Monday payout check at about 4 hours a week today, and about 30 minutes with Glimmer doing the matching.

The Friday-night sick call

A floor lead calls in sick on Friday night, and Saturday lunch is fully booked. The GM spends the evening ringing part-timers one by one, second-guessing the hour caps and the work-permit quota.

In the example, the GM asks Glimmer who can cover. Glimmer checks the Talenox roster and messages the part-timer WhatsApp group. It lists three people who can take the hours, with the hours each has already worked this week. The GM locks it in. See the example chat.

The 11pm catering enquiry

Catering enquiries land on WhatsApp after close and get answered mid-morning. By then the customer has booked elsewhere.

In the example, an enquiry arrives at 10:52pm for an office lunch that Thursday, with a question about Halal options. Glimmer reads the thread, finds 60 pax and the delivery address, prices it from the menu and drafts the WhatsApp reply. The owner checks the Halal wording and sends it at 11:01pm. See the example chat.

What it does not decide

  • Entries in your accounts wait for you. Glimmer drafts the Xero entry. It posts only when you tell it to.
  • Replies to customers wait for you. The catering quote stays a draft until you send it.
  • It tells you what it is unsure of. Halal wording, or a delivery slot it could not confirm.

You set the rule once for each kind of action: "Ask first" or "Just do it". See how approvals work.

It works with what you already run

GrabFood, foodpanda, Deliveroo, StoreHub, Talenox, PayNow and Xero. Nothing is replaced. Your team talks to Glimmer in Lark, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Google Chat, WhatsApp or Telegram. It runs in a cloud account in your company's name.

Questions people also ask

Does it replace our POS or accounting system?

No. It reads StoreHub and the platform payouts, and prepares fixes for StoreHub and Xero. Your systems stay as they are.

Can it handle more than one outlet?

Yes. The payout example covers 4 outlets in one ask, and flags the one that does not reconcile.

Will it post to Xero on its own?

Only if you set that rule. In the example, the finance exec reads the result and tells it to post.

Is there a grant for this?

A ready-made AI tool from IMDA's pre-approved list is eligible for up to 50% support for an SME under EDGE. A bigger build that joins up your POS, the delivery platforms and your accounts can apply under EDGE's Large-scale Digital Transformation support. One agent doing one task on its own is not eligible. More details. IMDA's AI x Digital Leaders also matches companies outside the tech industry with partner vendors. More details. Apply before you sign with any vendor. Read why.

Where to start

Time your Monday payout check this week, from the first export to the last Xero entry. Then book a call and bring the number. We will tell you how much of it Glimmer could do, and what should stay with your finance exec.
