When people hear "AI agent" they usually picture a chat box that answers general questions. That is a tool for the internet. What a company needs is something that knows the company.
We run one. It is called Glimmer, and every department at Glints works with it. Here is what that looks like on a normal day.
It sits in the chat app the team already uses
Nobody logs into a separate system. Glimmer is in the same group chats people are already in. You @ it the way you would tag a colleague, and the answer comes back in the thread where the question was asked.
That one detail decides whether an agent gets used. A tool in another tab gets opened in week one and forgotten by week three.
It answers from your own files
Glimmer is taught your business. It reads the documents, the policies and the data you point it at, and answers from those. Ask it what our leave policy says about a resignation during probation, and it answers from the actual handbook.
The questions it takes off people's plates are the ordinary ones. Where is the latest version of this template. What did we agree with this client in June. Which of these two suppliers did we settle with, and at what rate.
It shows where the answer came from
Every answer carries its source. You can click through and read the paragraph it came from.
This is the part that makes an agent usable for real decisions. An answer you cannot check is a rumour. An answer with the document attached is something you can act on, and something you can hand to your finance team without re-doing the work.
It does the analysis nobody has time to run
Someone in the room has a question about the numbers. Normally that question goes to whoever owns the data, waits in their queue for three days, and comes back as a spreadsheet that raises two more questions.
Asked in a chat thread, it comes back in minutes, with the working shown. The person who had the question can ask the follow-up straight away, while the question still matters.
It builds small tools when you ask
The most surprising part for most leaders is that you can ask for a tool, not just an answer. A tracker, a form that files things in the right place, a weekly summary that lands every Monday morning. You describe what you want in plain words and it builds it.
This is what we mean by getting your own tools without hiring a software company for each one.
What this adds up to for us
Three numbers from our own business:
- Every department works with our agents.
- More than 80% of our product is now written by agents.
- Our output is about four times what it was before we adopted them.
We are not claiming those are your numbers. They are ours, from running the thing every day, and they are the reason we are comfortable selling it.
What it does not do
It does not replace judgment. It does the 500 repetitions so your people can spend their attention on the five that need a decision.
It also does not read anything you have not given it. Where your data sits and who can reach it is set up before anything goes live, and it stays your call.
Where to start
Pick one job that eats a whole afternoon every week. That is the right first build, because you will know within a month whether it worked.
See what Glimmer does in detail, or book a call and bring that one job with you.
